NICKY AMAZON LODGE
Located in the upper part of the Cuyabeno Reserve, 30 minutes from the Laguna Grande, on the banks of the Cuyabeno River, the lodge offers the opportunity to explore and admire one of the particular ecosystems of the jungle basin; the flooded forest or Igapo in the Laguna Grande. Because of its good location, distant from other lodges, Nicky Amazon Lodge offers a quiet and peaceful environment that is crucial for the sighting of all types of wildlife. It has comfortable cabins where you will feel at home and at the same time you will be learning and observing different species of animals in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. ITINERARIES & REGULAR DEPARTURES
3 DAYS TOUR
DAY 1: The journey begins at “El Puente’ 11h00, the entry point to Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. A 2-hour canoe ride downstream takes you to Nicky Amazon Lodge. You might spot monkeys and birds en route. Rest, then explore for nocturnal creatures like insects, snakes, and frogs as night falls.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, we’ll have an interesting activity we will visit our Indigenous Siona community to share their daily life in the Amazon Basin. we’ll have a demonstration on how to make ‘Cassave’, the typical manioc bread of the region. Additional we’ll learn about the local customs and traditions of their past and present culture.
Afternoon we’ll travel by motorized canoe upstream to reach the Laguna Grande. As we explore the lagoon, we’ll learn about the ‘Igapó’, the ecosystem of the flooded forest and dominated by giant macrolobium trees which provide habitat for epiphytes and some species of birds such as cormorants.
After exploring the lagoon, we can swim in the calm waters while watching the spectacular sunset of the Amazon region. Later we’ll continue our adventure observing the nocturnal fauna of the river landscape.
DAY 3: Optional morning excursion includes a short trip by canoe, taking advantage of the early morning hours we’ll observe the animals during your morning activities We provide a box lunch for the trip. The ride takes you upstream back to the civilization at ‘El Puente de Cuyabeno at 10h00 to return to Quito.

DAY 2: Early in the morning we’ll explore the area looking for monkeys and birds in the awakening tropical rainforest. Some time to relax before we’ll walk through the rainforest and our guide will share all his knowledgeand experiences.
In the afternoon we’ll take a trip by canoe down the Cuyabeno River, taking usvthrough the dense jungle landscape. We’ll observe the wildlife found on the riverbanks, including monkeys, macaw s, toucans and sloths.

DAY 4: Optional morning excursion includes a short trip by canoe, taking advantage of the early morning hours we’ll observe the animals during your morning activities We provide a box lunch for the trip. The ride takes you upstream back to the civilization at Cuyabeno bridge at 10h00 to return to Quito.

In the afternoon we’ll take a trip by paddle canoe down the Cuyabeno River taking us through the dense jungle landscape. We’ll observe the wildlife found on the riverbanks, including monkeys, toucans and sloths. We’ll have a good chance to see the pink river dolphins in the impressive river landscape.
DAY 3: After breakfast, visit an Indigenous Siona community to witness daily life and the making of ‘Cassave’ bread. Learn about their customs and culture. In the afternoon, motor upstream to Laguna Grande, discovering the ‘Igapó’ ecosystem with giant trees. Observe birds like cormorants and swim in the lagoon’s calm waters, all against the backdrop of a stunning Amazon sunset.
DAY 4: In the morning offers an optional canoe or hiking excursion, tailored to weather and group preferences. Explore pristine jungle, guided by our expert. Learn about medicinal flora used by native cultures for generations, revealing survival secrets of the jungle.
