ANDES

The Andes are an impressive mountain range that runs through much of Ecuador, dividing it into four regions. The Ecuadorian Andes are characterised by deep valleys, diverse ecosystems and a variety of volcanoes such as Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Antisana, Quilotoa, among others. These mountains not only offer spectacular scenery, but also provide opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking and climbing.

The Andean region of Ecuador is home to many indigenous communities, who maintain their ancestral traditions and customs. Indigenous markets, such as the one in Otavalo, are famous for the sale of handmade handicrafts and textiles made by the indigenous people themselves.

The UNESCO World Heritage Cities of Quito and Cuenca are popular tourist destinations. Quito is the capital of Ecuador and is known for its well-preserved colonial architecture, while Cuenca is famous for its cultural heritage and beautiful historic centre.

The Andes mountains offer unforgettable landscapes, from snow-capped peaks to green valleys and crystal clear lakes. Every step takes you to a new panorama that seems to be taken out of a fairy tale. In addition, you can immerse yourself in an ancient culture, where ancestral traditions, music, dance and handicrafts connect you with the soul of this enigmatic place.

If you are an adventure lover, the Andes will not disappoint you. From thrilling hikes to paragliding over valleys, there is something for every adrenaline seeker. Foodies will delight your palate with local dishes that will immerse you in the richness of Andean cuisine.
